Hardus Steenkamp
Hardus was born on the Farm Doornlaagte. His love for hunting started at a very young age when he accompanied his father on hunting trips to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia. The ranch where the lodge is and most of the hunting commenced belonged to the family for 100 years! (This celebration was in 2019) He has a natural sense of hunting and is always eager to share his knowledge with all his clients and friends.

Venessa Steenkamp
Venessa grew up in Namibia. Her love for animals started at a very young age, spending hours with her father taking care as ‘n Game Ranger in the Etosha National Park. A few years after she married Hardus, they started Phumba Safaris in 1992.
Professional Hunter
Deon Strydom
Ph Deon joined the Phumba-Team 20 years ago. His reputation in hunting started years ago when he was culling animals over all of Africa. He has a fantastic knowledge of the hunting areas in South Africa.

Johan Du Plessis
Ph Johan is a Gunsmith in our local town and loves hunting as a freelance Professional Hunter. We are happy to have him as part of the Phumba-Team. He is always concerned and kind to do his best to satisfy his clients.

Chabalala
“Chabby” was born and raised on the farm. He has a natural skill development in tracking, very polite and honest. He has been part of the Team since the early 1990s.

Torrison
Torrison lives with his wife and children on the farm. His family was employed by Hardus’s father years ago. He has a natural sense of tracking; many clients who experience his skills will witness his fantastic talent.
Main Skinner
Elpie
Elpie was born and raised on a farm. He is managing the skinning and pre-preparation of the trophies. His love for his job is created over many years of in-training education. It is his natural habit to do his work with perfection!
Chef
Max
Max joined Phumba Safaris in 2015. He grew up in Zimbabwe and was trained as a chef in Harare. His skills improved over many years, and we are delighted to be spoiled by his talent in the kitchen and around the dining table.
