Can I bring my own rifle?

Yes, you're welcome to bring your own rifle. Most international hunters bring one suitable rifle with them, and we’ll guide you through the paperwork and permit process for bringing it into South Africa.

What Calibre do I need?

For plains game, a calibre in the .30 range (e.g .308, .30-06, or .300 Win Mag) works well with quality expanding bullets.

For dangerous game, you’ll need a rifle of .375 calibre or higher, as per South African legal minimums.

You should bring 60 rounds per calibre, using quality soft-point or bonded bullets. Flat-shooting calibres are ideal for the varied terrain.

Can I hire a rifle?

Yes, if you prefer not to travel with firearms, you’re welcome to use one of ours. We have reliable rifles suited to both plains and dangerous game. Ammunition is provided at cost.

When is the best time to hunt in South Africa?

The ideal hunting season runs from April to September, during the cooler, drier months. This is when visibility is best, and animals tend to gather around water sources. Some species have specific peak months

How do I get there?

Most international hunters fly into OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. From there, it’s about a four-hour drive to our camp in Limpopo.

We provide all airport transfers as part of your safari — you’ll be met on arrival and taken straight to camp, so no need to organise any transport yourself.

What does a typical hunting day look like?

Your day starts just before sunrise with coffee and a light bite. You’ll head out with your professional hunter at first light and return around midday for brunch and a short rest. The afternoon hunt runs until sunset, followed by snacks and drinks around the fire, and a three-course dinner served at 7:30pm.

Bow Hunting

Can I hunt with a bow in South Africa?

Yes — bow hunting is legal and well established in South Africa. Our bushveld terrain provides excellent conditions for bow hunters, with thicker cover allowing for closer shots and natural concealment.

What bow hunting options do you offer?

We have multiple bow blinds set up near waterholes, as well as walk-and-stalk options for more active hunts. Shot distances vary, but we’ll help position you based on your draw weight and preferred range.

Should I bring my own bow?

Yes — we don’t provide bow hire, so you’ll need to bring your own equipment. We're happy to offer advice on setup, arrows, or species suitability in advance of your trip.
