Hunting Blesbuck in South Africa
Originally native to the Highveld and Free State regions, the Blesbok has been successfully introduced to the bushveld and now adapts well to various habitats. While it can be hunted in Limpopo, the Free State remains the ideal environment. Open grasslands and flat plains make for more natural encounters.
When hunting with Phumba Safaris, Blesbok are typically hunted in open sections of our bushveld properties, or we often combine a bushveld hunt with a trip to the Free State.
This species is an excellent choice for first-time hunters in Africa. They tend to move in herds, prefer open areas, and present clear shot opportunities, especially in the cooler, drier months.
Did you know?
Blesbok are highly alert animals with a strong herd instinct. They were once near extinction in the 1800s, but recovered well thanks to conservation through hunting and private land ownership.
